Privacy Policy
Last updated October 29, 2026
This explains what wicktape.com (the "Site") collects and why.
What we collect
- Visit information: your internet (IP) address, the approximate location it points to (city, region, country), your device type, operating system, browser, screen size, language and time zone, which pages you view, how long you stay, and the website that sent you here.
- A random device ID stored in your browser (and a cookie with the same ID) so we can count visitors, recognise returning devices, and enforce limits and blocks.
- Settings you choose on the Site, stored in your browser.
- Your nickname, which you pick before entering. It's linked to your internet address and device so it stays the same when you come back, and it's unique on the Site.
- Bet alerts, only if you turn them on: your browser's push address (issued by Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft), the markets you chose and when you subscribed. It's linked to your device ID, nickname and internet address so the site owner can see who's subscribed and stop alerts if needed. Turn them off any time with the 🔔 button or in your browser's settings.
- Chat messages you post. They're public, and the owner can see which device and address posted them (to stop spam and abuse). The last 200 messages are kept.
We don't ask for your name, email or payment details, and we don't use advertising or third-party analytics trackers.
How we use it
To run and secure the Site: count visitors, understand which features are used, keep the Site within its hosting limits, and prevent abuse (for example, by blocking devices or addresses that misuse it).
Who it's shared with
We don't sell your information. It's processed by the services that run the Site: our hosting provider (Render), our database provider (Upstash), an IP-location lookup service (ipwho.is), which receives your IP address to estimate its location, and, if you turn on bet alerts, your browser's push service, which delivers them (the alert text is encrypted so only your browser can read it). Your browser also connects directly to public data sources (cryptocurrency exchanges and Polymarket) to show live prices; those services see your IP address as they would for any visitor. Map pictures in the owner's dashboard come from Esri or OpenStreetMap. We may disclose information if required by law.
How long we keep it
Visit statistics are kept for up to about 45 days for daily totals and for a limited number of recent devices; older records are removed automatically.
Cookies and storage
The Site uses your browser's storage and a small cookie for the device ID, your settings and remembering that you accepted the notice. The site owner's sign-in uses a separate secure cookie. You can clear these in your browser at any time.
Children
The Site is not meant for anyone under 18.
